Season 3 - "Starflower"

A warm welcome to the third instalment of our popular Block of the Month Series. This time it is – “Starflower”. 

Quilt Fayre Directors, Margaret and Yvonne have joined together again with renowned quilt series expert Jules Mayouf (Designer, patternmaker, teacher and all-round fabric engineer) to create this perfect beginner friendly project. Get to grips with common patchwork and quilting techniques such as chain piecing, multi-patch designs, and half square triangles. Then push your skills further with techniques such as partial seams, quilter’s grid and stained-glass quilting. There will be plenty of practice with accurate cutting , piecing and those ¼” seams😊. You will also learn some helpful quilting tips and tricks along the way. For the more adventurous amongst you ,there will plenty of ‘take it further’ opportunities too.😊 

Jules is a keen scrap-buster, so- with this in mind- many of the blocks use piece sizes you may have left from pre-cuts. All fabric quantities are suggested so the design choice is yours. 

The project is Quilt As You Go which means that it’s perfect for tabletop home sewing. The blocks are designed to build your confidence and improve your technique. There are 9 monthly blocks beginning in September, but the fun doesn’t stop there. We have included added value suggestions for bonus blocks, plus sashing, binding, labelling and hanging sleeve instructions. In addition, there will be an exclusive ‘settle you in’ bonus project for August 😊. 

All instructions are delivered monthly via email in pdf. format. There will be a monthly recorded Zoom session with Jules to demo techniques and answer any queries (the recording link will be emailed to you if you cannot make the live session)!
